The RP4500SARG is a fully hydraulic Rack ’n Pinion / Strong Arm tarping system made by Pioneer (Coverall) for roll‑off and hooklift trucks. Its distinguishing feature (versus its sibling models) is the telescoping/adjustable gantry, which allows vertical adjustment of the gantry between approximately 60″ and 90″ to adapt to container height differences. It is intended for use on cable‑hoist, hooklift, or roll‑off trucks, covering typical container lengths up to 24 feet.

Key Features & Specifications
- Arm material & strength – Arms are made from 3/16″ A500B steel and include a reinforced “C”‑channel design for added rigidity.
- Telescoping arms / stroke – The arms offer a 36″ stroke extension / retraction.
- Cylinders – Uses nitrited rod external cylinders (externally mounted for easy maintenance) to resist corrosion and simplify servicing.
- Gantry adjustment / range – The gantry is vertically adjustable from 60″ up to 90″ (some sources list 60–96″) to adapt to different container heights.
- Roller/tarp system – It includes a spring-loaded Everlast/Rollmaster roller assembly, designed for smooth tarp deployment and retraction.
- Tarp – Add an optional 9′-6″X28′ heavy-duty mesh tarp, reinforced front and back with urethane‑coated nylon.
- Other design features – Quick tarp attachment mechanism | Ratchet & pawl system to facilitate installation of the tarp | Offset stabilizer bar to reduce roller damage
- Warranty – Pioneer offers a 5‑year non‑prorated warranty on the system (excluding the tarp and wear components)
Applications
- The RP4500SARG is used on tandem or tri‑axle hooklift and roll‑off trucks for 20–50 yard containers (up to ~24′).
- It is often distinguished from the RP4500SAR model, which has a fixed gantry instead of the adjustable one or the RP4500SATR which is used for roll-off trailer applications.
- To successfully install this model, you’ll need about 10–12″ of clearance behind the cab for the gantry and framework.
- Because the gantry height can change and the arms are telescopic, it’s versatile for containers of varying heights.
- The system is fully hydraulic and integrates with the truck’s hydraulic / PTO system
