Heavy Duty Black Mesh Dump Truck Tarp Material
Hmmm? What is the best way to draft a blog post about “mesh dump truck tarps? Really, not a whole heck of a lot to say, I mean it’s just a mesh material fabricated into a “tarp”. But, regardless, I’m going to give it a go and see what happens. So, without further ado, here is the who, what, when, where, and, why of a Mesh Dump Truck Tarp..
Who: Anybody driving a dump truck or dump trailer that carries loads that require containment, but does not require any waterproof properties.
What: Mesh tarps for dump trucks are an open weave material that typically weighs around 11 ounces per square yard. Commonly referred to as “heavy duty mesh tarps” this material is available in a variety of colors such as black, red, green, blue, and white. Although the heavy-duty mesh tarp is the most common, “industry standard”, other mesh tarp materials with different weights, weaves and brand names are readily available. Mighty Mesh, Gator Mesh, Leno Weave, and Expandable Mesh are just a few. Mesh tarps have an open weave and are not recommended if any waterproofing properties are needed. Stock sizes for mesh dump truck tarps are 7’ or 7’-6” wide by any length (2’ increments on the even numbers) up to about 54’ long.

When: Mesh dump truck tarps are a great option for most dump truck, dump trailer, belly dump, side dump, refuse trailer or any open top container containment application.
Where: Anywhere! Mesh tarps do react to temperatures, so the tarp material will become stiffer in cold climates and more flexible in hot environments, but generally speaking, the mesh tarp handles hot or cold climates very well. However, mesh dump truck tarps are NOT recommended for asphalt covering applications. Need an asphalt application tarp? Call Dan directly at 757-615-4379 for assistance.

Why: Mesh dump truck tarps are the king of the road. About 80% of the dump truck tarps that are distributed by LoAlbo Enterprises, Inc. are mesh tarps. Of that 80%, approximately 90% are black mesh. As a side note of interest, it has been my experience that black mesh dump truck tarps tend to last longer than its colored counterparts. I can’t say why, but it does seem that colored mesh tarp material does break down (dry-rot) faster than black mesh.
Conclusion: Mesh dump truck tarps will cover virtually any load in any climate. Mesh tarps can be used on every style of tarp system from swing arm flip tarps to side dumps to end dump and roll-off trucks. Custom sizes can easily be manufactured to fit any size or length dump body or trailer. And mesh dump truck tarps are economical, readily available and easy to install.

I like the idea of keeping a mesh top over a dump trailer. If you need to get on the highway, this would help keep debris from escaping. You made a good point about how it is a nice option if you don’t need waterproofing.
